You are quick to tell them the percentsge of black population but never tell them what the asian and other groups percentsge is in the U.S
-
This is why American media stereotyping is dangerous because as a person who has travelled the world people get think the stereotypes are true. So Asian men are seen as weak and unattractive, Asian women are seen as passive and very sexual. Black people seen as good singers and good a sports only. How many people know that West Africans are the most educated group in America now, but because American films don't show that people have stereotype view.

I am Asian-American (half Filipino and half American) and people do tend to think all of us (Asian-Americans) are good at things like math. I have no idea why they do, haha.
-
I'd rather live in Japan if I knew Japanese :/.

I like this video!

As a Japanese American myself, I am a sansei, I used to get hit up by a lot of drunk Japanese men who said, "You are not American, you are Japanese." in Japanese and I just ignore them. I know being drunk, I cannot get upset with them because it gets really irritating after awhile. I also heard from Japanese folks, asking me, why don't I speak Japanese (in Japanese of course) and it's kind of tough to explain the politics after the U.S. signed the Gentlemen's Agreement, then the incarceration of Japanese and Japanese Americans during WWII. There was a Japanese program on NHK about the Nikkei and the 442nd and especially the MIS, but again, it's hard to explain it to someone from Japan. My mom said that when she was a child in Japan, a Japanese American G.I. visited her home and she said that the Japanese soldier was speaking weird Japanese.
There is a divide between Japanese and Japanese Americans. I got enough Japanese students drunk enough to hear how they feel about us. We are not "real" Japanese. Though we do things like eat Japanese food, or odori, ikebana, chanoyu (http://www.chanoyu.com/indexa.html) karate, judo, Aikido, Iaido but many feel that we are not fully Japanese. I think the best relationship that Nikkei have with Japan are from the people from Hiroshima and Nagasaki, especially from the hibakusha but beyond that, there is a divide. That divide? Unlike a Black or White person, we do not know English well enough to teach in Japan. The assumption is made that if they look like us, how can they be qualified to teach?
Also, when Japan was doing economically well and invested in the U.S., in Los Angeles' Little Tokyo, the tourists used to shop in Weller Court. It was Little Tokyo's Beverly Hills. I would walk by Weller Court and the people looked at people like me weird when we spoke in English. They would brush us off as imperfect and go about their shopping. When Japan's economy crashed, the barrier broke down. The tourists would go to the seedy neighborhood and become victims of crime. They came running to us almost immediately. Bachi? No. We don't treat our guests that way. I also remember going to the supermarket and a tour bus came into the store. The sales clerk told the customer from Japan the merchandise they bought cost $27.83. Not knowing Japanese, the cashier repeated the $27.83 and the customer had a blank face. So I stepped in and said, "nijû nana doru to hachi ju san sento desu. The customer got it and I left.
If Japanese folks treated me differently in my home country, how would they treat me in theirs? As for discrimination against Asian Americans in the U.S.?
Why Does the FBI Keep Arresting Asian-American Scientists?

I hope this explains the racism against Asian Americans -
( I'm black btw )
I feel odd when random strangers appear to be scared of me, I look old for my age but I'm only 15 so it's kinda offensive when I get random negative reactions from people like on the bus and stuff, it doesn't happen often it's pretty mixed where I'm from but it does happen. I guess I just look intimidating -
I think I fell in love with the girl of white jacket and t-shirt who is interviwiew
-
The girl in white...she's fine....
-
I think it's funny that some of them said that Japanese people specifically would be looked down upon (presumably because of pearl harbor and such).. NOPE! Today, racist non-Asian Americans just lump Asians all into one category. They don't give a fuck whether you're Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Taiwanese, or Thai, or if you were actually born in America. Anyone who looks the slightest bit Asian goes ching chong, has shitty English, is super cheap, runs a nail salon, is completely submissive, eats sushi everyday, and is unhygienic.

You Ladies are very beautiful
-
what can I say, I am an immigrant as well (not in US though) and it is always hard not to fit in. I haven´t experienced much of discrimination, because people will normally keep it to themselves though. However it must be quite different when you are actually born in that country and not just an immigrant.

I wish more people could move to America and see what it's really like.
-
This was extremely informative. Before this video, I thought that Japanese people in Japan would have negative attitudes about Black Americans people due ignorant racist stereotyping. However, there were only five people interviewed. Were others who had negative comments not included for the sake of showing a good image?
-
Omg they were pretty accurate with everything. I see they keep up with what's happening here in the US.
