Waseda University International Community Center held a program titled "Kizuna (the bond) - the Japan - America alliance from the perspective of Operation Tomodachi" for their students and professors on its main campus in Tokyo, June 26, 2013. A service member from the U.S. Forces Japan was invited as a guest speaker to talk about his experience as a logistics officer and the lessons learned on both U.S. and Japanese sides during the disaster relief and humanitarian assistance activities known as Operation Tomodachi after the massive earthquake and tsunami hit the northeastern region of Japan on March 11, 2011.
