really? my friend got rejected from stanford and columbia, then he got to todai.

Tokyo University, compared to schools in the US, is even higher then ivy league schools. Your top of the class if you get in there. People spend thousands of dollars and enrol their kids in cram schools at the age of 7 just for the hope of getting accepted to at least take the entrance exam. That doesn't even mean they are accepted yet.
