Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo (MOT) 「Tokyo Art Meeting Transformation」 Friday, October 29, 2010 -- Sunday, January 30, 2011 http://www.mot-art-museum.jp/eng/2010/transformation/index.html Jan Fabre Born in Antwerp in 1958. Traversing the boundary between temporal and spatial art, artist, choreographer, dramatist, and stage performer Jan Fabre freely goes beyond the borders between human on one hand and animal and insect on the other, between life and death, and between male and female, fusing them, revealing human frailty, and exploring the possibilities for transforming body and consciousness discovered in these new frontiers. In Chapter I-XVIII, the work presented at this exhibition, the artist' s body partially and repeatedly transforms into that of an animal—growing deer horns, donkey ears, and the like—to create images that show him at different stages of life and with different expressions. ・Artists AES + F Matthew Barney Simon Birch Francesco Clemente Marcus Coates Jan Fabre Gabríela Friðriksdóttir Naoki Ishikawa Bharti Kher Lee Bul Motohiko Odani Junya Oikawa Jagannath Panda Patricia Piccinini Shahzia Sikander Sputniko!
