First introduced in 2004, the Tokyu Corporation 5050 Series (東急5050系電車) is a 8-car EMU which supplements the earlier Tokyu 5000 series (東急5000系電車) on the Tokyu Toyoko Line. They are capable of operating through services on the Yokohama Minatomirai Line and Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin Line. 26 trainsets were purchased and all units were manufactured by Tokyu Car Corporation (now J-TREC). They were fitted with Hitachi IGBT-VVVF traction control system. Through-train services from other railway operators operate on all Tokyo Metro lines except the two oldest ones (Ginza Line and Marunouchi Line). This allows travelers outside of the Tokyo Metropolitan area to travel directly into the city, although fare for each railway section is calculated separately. This recording features one of such rolling stock owned by these companies. (Update) We are also pleased to announce that Chinese and Japanese videos that are not repeated in English in full will be translated. Also, the blurring of faces for Japanese videos is necessary to comply with local law.
