P.S. You're gonna be modifying that car a lot before you buy a new one, most likely. its not really a game you can play on default settings. I'd say you probably need to purchase different tires, and maybe a new engine (because your car seemed extremely slow). Also this game has crazy gearbox and suspension customization that you can mess around with and get wildly different results. Plus manual transmission always helps in Genki racers, because it actually makes you accelerate much faster and gives you a higher top speed. It's really about as hardcore of a caRPG as you can get without being a simulation.
