Osaka for the win. People there are much more open, friendly and kinder to foreigners.

My biggest Dream is moving to Japan but I can't imagine living in Tokyo because I think it's too loud and too big. Osaka or Kyoto would be my choice.
But first I will travel trough the country and figure out which place is the best and try to get a permanent residency -
never bin but i think i would bo better in Osaka

going to stay in both Osaka and Tokyo in December, however i have only been learning Tokyo Dialect in school. i just hope it doesn't make my time in Osaka difficult now haha.

Is the Keihanshin region mainly centered economically/culturally around Osaka like the Greater Tokyo Metropoliton area is of course centred around Tokyo, or do Kyoto and Kobe still function and feel like two seperate major cities without threat of being swallowed by Osaka?

Love both osaka n tokyo

So it seems like if I ever went to Japan Osaka would be my best bet. They even stand on the same side of the escalator that we do in D.C.

I lived in Tokyo but I'm mexican and totally enjoy more Osaka!! Sometimes felt like in home there :)

OSAKA !! :)

I've done short student exchange programs mainly in Nagano, Tokyo, and Osaka. Of all three places, I've probably enjoyed Osaka the most since the people were very outgoing and are easy to joke around with. I loved my experience in Nagano & Tokyo, but it is definitely different as it takes time to become acquainted with people.

Is that how much they despise each other? They have to stand on opposite sides of the escalator in their respective cities. That's pretty funny.

Never been to Japan unfortunately, but I'm really interested in the Keihanshin region. I want to learn Japanese and I think I'd prefer to speak Kansai-ben. I'm from Birmingham which is the second city of England so maybe I have more of an affinity for the Keihanshin region. Plus I like that basically you'll have two other cities very close to you, as well as the ancient capital of Japan is in the region.
I LOVE the etiquette of escalators and stairs. I always walk very quickly and I hate being blocked, be it in the street, shop whatever. In fact I missed a train recently back to Birmingham from Walsall because some heffa parked her fat self in the middle of escalator >:( -
The kansai dialect sounds more positive! The Tokyo dialekt is Kinda boring i think. But i think that the Tokyo dialect is more easy to learn.

I'd have to vote for Tokyo. I've never been to Japan but from what I've heard, Tokyo sounds better to me. I'm more of a "Leave me alone and mind your own business." type of person.
