Tokyo to Osaka - 4 days by bike. | Tokyo

Here is a short movie documenting a cycling trip from Tokyo to Osaka. It was a last minute decision to make this trip. There was a window of opportunity, so I just took it. There was little to no planning involved. Just me, a Cinco5 bike, all my gear, 4 days, and over 600km. I've never been to Japan, and I literally got off the plane at 6am, took the train to Tokyo, and by 9am was on the road. It was a real adventure, just what I wanted. I highly recommend riding in Japan, its a beautiful country. Great people, great food, and a convenience store is always near bye.

Alex, is there any way I can talk to you. I want to do a similar trip.

Very inspirational Alex! I spent a year in between English teaching, riding my folder bike around Osaka, and I fell in love with riding in Japan due to the bike friendly nature of Osaka sidewalks. Compared to Vancouver, it's paradise for cyclists.

Hi Travis. my biggest recommendation is not to do the ride I did on Day 3 of my trip - The section from Okazaki to Yokkaichi was not fun, this is Toyota country, a big factory area. If possible try going to Atsumi Peninsula and catch a ferry across to Toba, You can email me at concierge.ortre@gmail.com and I can give more details, and links to my maps
