Nice video.
It's funny though that foreign tourists' minds are so set on the Emperor of Japan that they don't realize that s/he hadn't but nominal authority for the large part of Japanese history. The military and governing authority had been in the hands of the provincial Daimyo lords and at times in the hands of Shogun. Many if not most foreign visitors do not understand that this place shown in the period had been the Edo Castle of the Tokugawa Shogunate, and the present-day so-called East Gardens had been the main compounds of Edo Castle. The grandeur of this place comes from the authority of the Shogun, not the Emperor who moved in from the Capital (Kyoto) after the Meiji Restoration in 1868 after the Shogun gave up on ruling the country. So it's a bit strange to see the foundations of the Tenshu (donjon, tower) and say there had been a fortress... I mean, the present-day Imperial Palace and the central areas of Tokyo City around it had been one huge castle, of course! The Tenshu which was destroyed by fire had just a symbolic meaning and become anachronistic by the first half of 17th century, whereas the fortress-city of Edo (Tokyo) had extended by strategic planning by geomancy in "の" form so that it would never be straightforward to reach to the central compounds. Without knowing the backgrounds, it'll just seem like a green vacant space with some stone foundation... -
I'm certainly NOT a video professional! I'm eager to learn, though. I started my channel after discovering MS Movie Maker on my PC and that my point-and-shoot camera produced OK quality video. Got hooked and have recently upgraded to a dSLR camera, Vegas software and a tripod. A man's gotta have a hobby! Those shots are walk and talk. That palace video was done single-handed. In the previous vids, my wife filmed only my stand-ups. But the new tripod means she can take it easy now.

Actually I was running there today. After checking out your channel I understand now why the videos are so professional - because you are professional! JT and InterFM. The walking to camera shots, are they filmed by a second person?

Thanks, Jaqaroo. You mean you were jogging on Saturday? I got my current camera a couple of weeks ago, and it's HD capable, so I was trying max out the resolution for this video.

That was very good. Very nice quality - the HD photography (nice and steady), the editing and the narration. I also live in Tokyo and in fact I was one of those joggers running around the perimeter. I made a video of my run and spotted your video on the YouTube right hand list. I'll check out some more of your videos.
