Tokyo Police Club - Not Sick -- Live at Amoeba Records in San Francisco, 4-28-14, Front row. Dave Monks: "Is anyone going to the show tonight? You got to be there! Actually, I think it's sold out (laughs)." Whoops :P Amoeba Records held a free in-store concert to promote TPC's new album Forcefield. Everyone who bought the album there got a free poster and a spot in the signing line. The band was scheduled to perform another concert that same night, about 2 hours later at The Independent, which indeed was sold out. Other Tidbits: Originally announced on Twitter, Dave Monks described this event as a stripped down show, with him and Graham playing songs that they normally play loud soft with drummer Greg Alsop and guitarist Josh Hook coming in intermittently. During the setup, Greg chatted with us, saying that they would have been there sooner if not for all the one-way streets in SF and joked that they don't have very many of them in Ontario, Canada. And it's true... there are a lot of one-way streets here. In fact, Amoeba and The Independent are on opposite sides of two huge one-way streets. :P The band, which regularly post videos of covers on their facebook page, covered The Strokes 'The Modern Age' for their 3rd song. Right before the set, a sheet of paper titled 'The Strokes Lyrics' was brought out and placed in front of Dave. Immediately after that, a few fans in the 1st row oohed and aahed, which then prompted Monks to fold over the top of the paper which had 'The Strokes' printed on it. We then joked with Dave, saying 'we didn't see anything' and that we wouldn't spoil the surprise. While TPC were deciding on what to play for their 8th song, a fan to the right of me yelled out 'Citizens of Tomorrow', to which Dave then said 'OK'. Afterwards, Monks joked that "that was the only time someone ever called out like 'play this song!' and I've actually heard them because of the mic, and I'm like 'OK fine'" lol. Before the song 'Hot Tonight', Dave told the fans that Greg just moved to America, specifically Boston. When the San Francisco crowd let out a half-hearted 'wooo' in response, Greg joked that "it's ok, you don't have to cheer at all" and that he doesn't like it either and that he'd rather be here, to which the crowd let out a bigger 'wooo', lol. A fan then held up a Canadian flag, to which Dave asked who wrote on it. "I did??" Monks then joked about having a snapchat memory :P Setlist: Acoustic 1. Argentina (Parts I, II, III) 2. Not Sick 3. The Modern Age (The Strokes cover) 4. Wait Up (Boots of Danger) 5. Nature of the Experiment 6. Tessellate 7. The Bare Necessities (Disney's The Jungle Book cover - Partial) 8.
