The future is now, but for some Tokyo residents, they’re happy with things the way they are. In just six years, Japan will be hostng the 2020 Olympic Games. As part of the preparation, a new stadium will be built. Japan already has an Olympic stadium from the last time Tokyo hosted the games in 1964. However, times have changed and the stadium no longer meets the needs of modern games. As such, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has approved replacing the old stadium with a larger futuristic once that they hope will inspire and bring pride to the nation. While Japan is celebrating Tokyo's winning bid for the Olympics, not everyone is cheering. For some, it's too high a price to pay - both financially and personally. The issue that has upset many locals is that in order to build the newer bigger stadium, other surrounding properties must go, including a public housing apartment complex down the street.
