Tokyo Earthquake - Mori Tower 52nd Floor (11/3/2011) | Tokyo
Information | History | View | Sightseeing | Video
I was on the 52nd floor of the Mori Tower in Roppongi Hills when the earthquake struck. You can get a sense of how much the tower was shaking from the curtains moving and the people screaming. The earthquake itself was scary, but the psychological fear of the tower collapsing etc was stronger. Well after the earthquake stopped, the building continued to sway back and forth. We ended up waiting about 1 1/2hrs for the lifts to start up again.

It looks they are waiting for their train at railway station before passing of Goods train!

Those who have fear of height, will you stay at this building if someone gives you 1 million dollars?
-
52 floor is not that high tbh.

If you were to add Video Stabilization, would you be able to see the Tokyo Skytree swaying?? (its that massive Silver tower in the background - it was under construction then)

structural integrity is key here that's why the people are so calm
-
That looks absolutely terrifying!!!!!

tall buildings are earthquake proof

Great Japanese structural engineering being put to the ultimate test

"There has just been an earthquake... Stay calm... Seek refuge under a table." How can I download that ringtone for whenever my ex calls :/
-
Is Mori Tower a popular tourist attraction? It seems odd they'd only be warning about the earthquake in english
-
In Japan, earthquakes happen so often that people treat them more as inconveniences than genuine threats. There's quite a few videos going around where an Earthquake strikes an office tower, and the people inside keep working, despite paper being thrown everywhere!
