Tectonic boundaries, you mean? We're all sitting on tectonic plates right now, regardless of where you live. ;)
-
It's crazy.....When you look at all the other quakes videos of that day in Tokyo , this seemed mild in comparison. I wonder why?
-
Thanks for sharing your video.
-
they have this all the time in japan as they have many techtonic plates going through the earth of japan so to them its nothing out of the ordinary for them
-
The calm of the people is so extrange for me

I like this one...a bit less of "death" in it...and ppl being totally scared...but you never know...it could have been one giant Tyrannosaurus Rex marching down the street, judging the way that water was shaking in the glass man!!

I appologize if my comments were off the mark. I was going by videos and whet other people had said.

minor?? No, it was definitely NOT minor. Certainly smaller compared to Tohoku, but as anyone in Tokyo can tell you it was most definitely strong. You need only check the Japanese scale to see PERCEIVED strength. My broken tv, broken computer, broken mirrors, broken shelves, broken drinking glasses, will attest to this.

There was many videos of the shaking in Tokyo too. Yes the shaking was minor in Tokyo but they still felt it. Now as far as the Tsunami goes the water did not come a few seconds after the earthquake. It happened about 10 min later. The problem was many people thought the Tsunami walls would hold the water back. The surge was much higher than anyone expected. So the people who did not get to high ground in time had seconds once the water started surging over the Walls.

I felt a terrible shaking in Tokyo. watch?v=P1bwqQxugLI

Actually, the waves didn't hit Tokyo. It only hit the northern part of Japan.

For one thing, it was 8.9, and another, thier buildings are safer than any other buildings around the world, they can withstand a huge earthquake, such as an 8.9 or a 9.0. Plus, many people didn't know what was coming, no one did, but they did know from procedure, to go to a high place, just in case. They didn't know that the waves came in a few seconds, so a lot of people didn't have time to go to a high place.

Who's got the shaker ?
-
To think these poor people didn't know what was gonna happen 90 mins later
-
It was an 8.9 at the epicenter dumb ass!!!
-
That was not an 8.9 earthquake. Someone isn't telling the truth here. An 8.9 is 10 x stronger than a 7.9 and 100x stronger than a 6.9. These people would have been put on their azz if this were the true reading. This was likely about a 5.5 or 6.0.

this is 8.9 richters???hardly,i mean if earthquake 8.9 richters strike my house,i think my house would jump 3 meters from ground LOL
