Information | History | View | Sightseeing | Video
In episode five of our Tokyo City Series we take a look at the growing problem of homelessness in Japan. We travel to the Sanya district and visit Sanyukai, a non-profit homeless aid organisation. We also meet the homeless locals of Miyashita Park and an area made up of makeshift shacks used for accommodation.

government is shit
-
The guy who said the government is no good said that the goverment should do more to provide jobs while people in the West typically say the government should do more to provide housing. It's a subtle, but interesting hint at the difference in mentality.

No country is perfect. I never expect this in Japan.
-
thanks for your time, and looks like our homeless here,in the United States, ive been homeless also and appreciate a warm bed and hot water,so my prayers go out to all my fellow human beings,Love you

it's so sad to see that this is probably not going to change in any country in the world. The government dont want people who are not work and debt slaved.

Such Strong People.

Did I miss it? Shouldn't there be an iNTRODUCTiON to Robu Jan? He's an AMERiKAN?
-
I am homeless in I work full time and I don't make enough to get a room in California
-
Why is happening this awful, and so ugly as sight, thing in the land of the most wealthy and bodily clean folk of Asia ?
-
everyday we pass,
each moment another breath breathed in the air of many,
sitting by the side of social advancement,
staring at the wind is an amazing relaxation~~ -
wait, so homeless people can't vote? kinda like the felon line of the 13th ammendment...
-
good documentary, very informative, that end really sucked though. I want to cry now I'm going to go watch Jerry Springer to make myself feel better

This makes me feel bad, but nobody likes admit that the government is behind a lot of Japan's ailments. It shouldn't take being homeless to see it, and 90% of Japanese people I meet never have a political opinion. They love to avoid conflict altogether, but it's turning into Japan's demise. There's tens of thousands of people that are an inch away from being homeless themselves(many live with parents well into their 30's). Japan needs to wake up

That grandma seems like very gentle and friendly. I wouldn't even mind to help her out all the time :(

Nobody should be homeless in anywhere.
Countries and governments must provide at least a minimum standard of living for its citizens . -
Anime Forever God exists. We are blessed by God to help those who are unfortunate. We are living in a world ruled by the Prince of Air according to Bible. But human beings still have good heart to see the need of the unfortunate. Although many are greedy but there are also kind hearted people on earth to reach out to the unfortunate. If you know which NGO looking for people to work I will join them.
-
How can we start doing something so that government in all nations will start to look into homeless people? There are so many resources, many foods, many houses, many things that only those with money can afford? Why must our human beings treat other unfortunates like this? We should distribute instead of treating all materials as items to trade for more money. Our societies are sick and inhumane. If there's an international NGO to stop homelessness around the world I will join. As God has given so many resources to all human kind on earth why must the rich and those who afford can live a better life and wasted many things they don't need?

being poor in a very rich country is a lot harder to take than being poor in a poor country
Currently, it is not such a big issue because employment levels are high and the minimum wage is quite low, but things change and as with other countries, people are falling for the more is better idea here in Japan too.
