Tokyo Central (Marukai) Japanese Market - Cold Deli Section Food - Gyudon & Individual Nigiri Sushi [Unboxing 4K UHD ASMR] Hello everybody, In this video, I eat a take-out dinner from Tokyo Central Market’s cold deli-section. Tokyo Central Market in Costa Mesa, California, is a Japanese supermarket I frequently go to for groceries. Oddly enough, because I’ve been there countless times, I have never bought/tried their prepared food from their deli-section yet (until now). Whenever I go to this market in the past, I only walk by their deli-section, just to admire and stare in amazement at their offerings. This day, I was too lazy to go there just for groceries (to later on cook). So, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to try their deli-section. And, I am glad I did. For this video, I show and eat one of the meals I have bought from Tokyo Central Market (I bought 2 different meals. The other meal will be shown in a 2nd video). This particular meal consisted of a classic Gyudon and a few pieces of Nigiri sushi. The gyudon was impressive in quality and taste. Much better than anything you can get at the Yoshinoya chain restaurants. The beef was tender, well seasoned, sweet and savory. The beef wasn’t stringy nor gristly at all (like you would typically get from Yoshinoya). What I really liked was the addition of the glass or shirataki noodles, giving it almost a sukiyaki type quality to the overall dish. I could tell even the rice was of high quality, slightly sticky and sweet. This gyudon is on par with what you would get at a sit-down Japanese establishment or maybe the food-court of Mitsuwa. It was very good. To accompany the gyudon, I also bought 4 individually wrapped nigiri sushi, which ranged from $1-1.50 each. The 4 sushi I got were - Squid/Ika, Tako/Octopus, Tataki Shiro Magura/Seared Albacore and Hamachi/Yellowtail. I didn’t know what to expect while purchasing these and those expectations were honestly low, since I’ve had more than a few bad experiences with sub-par and nasty sushi from grocery stores in the past (I’m betting many others had as well). But, after the first bite, I was in awe. The quality of the fish, the freshness and the taste were in top form; perhaps even besting sushi I’ve had in actual, sit-down, expensive Sushi restaurants. The rice here, again, was noticeably better than average and was high-quality. The sushi I got from here was a pleasant surprise. Which, shouldn’t really be a surprise; since this place is, after all, a Japanese specialty market with a good supply of high-quality and fresh ingredients. I highly recommend trying out the prepared food from Tokyo Central Market’s deli-section. It is best to come at least before 6pm though, as their shelves and selection tend to get empty after that and also won’t be as fresh. I am definitely coming back again and again to eat from here, whenever I want some good Japanese food to-go at a reasonable price. Thanks for watching.
