Tokyo bombings - May 26 1945 | Tokyo

I saw the light shining below me as Tokyo burst into flame, But will they ever know who to blame? I saw the light shining below me as Tokyo disappeared, I felt a feeling that was close to fear... I felt a fever rush through my brain, I felt a shiver run up my spine, I felt a burning in my very soul, because you'll never know how i feel deep inside about Tokyo (Chorus) Tokyo, you're so far behind me please don't let me go, I'd give the world to return but i can't stand to watch you burn, Tokyo, i'll never forget you, always be my home, and all the time we're apart you're here in my hear, i love you so... I saw the Earth shining out of the darkness a ring of fire in the skies and my life was flashing through my eyes, and on that night, all the warnings and promises had finaly come to pass, i knew that this could probably be my last... I felt a fever rush through my brain, I felt a shiver run up my spine, I felt a burning in my very soul, because you'll never know how i feel deep inside about Tokyo (Chorus) Tokyo, you're so far behind me please don't let me go, I'd give the world to return but i can't stand to watch you burn, Tokyo, i'll never forget you, always be my home, and all the time we're apart you're here in my heart, i love you so... *repeat to fade....*

Look at all these "superior" American people in the chat. hahaha
-
If you bomb America
You're gonna have bad time -
The United States invaded a certain island and slaughtered the inhabitant.
And the beautiful beach of the island was named Pearl Harbor. -
I can only say that Emperor Hirohito was a heck of a good sport...
-
You are ignoring one important fact- the oil and steel that we had been selling to Japan was being used to make war materiel that was being used to attack and kill people in China- if we had continued to do that, WE would have been accompices in their aggression! We should have slapped them with an embargo a heck of a lot SOONER than we finally did! But cheer up...a lot of the oil and steel we sold to Japan was later used against US! DON'T TRY TO HANG A GUILT TRIP ON ME- MY CONSCIENCE IS CLEAR!!
-
True- but those citizens who CAN "do something about it" should think about all those "innocents". If we don't care about what happens to our own fellow citizens, what good are we?
-
I saw that movie- I can only say that if the Jap leaders had not been so dam STUBBORN, and if they had accepted the fact that the war was LOST, and continued fighting was only going to result in MORE death and suffering- and if they had surrendered SOONER, those kids would have not died! The problem was that a lot of high-ranking Japanese leaders were facing the prospect being tried as war criminals, and they were trying postpone THEIR day of reconning by dragging out the war- no matter what.
-
looks like a successful bombing run
-
It seems that passionate views have not completely disappeared, even though the war ended 68 years ago. I happened to see "Fireflies", a japanese cartoon to indicate human death from fire bombing, as well as starvation continuing after capitulation. A lot of suffering to people not combatant. I believe it would not be permitted today.

On Dec. 7, 1964, the Japanese government conferred the First Order of Merit with the Grand Cordon of the Rising Sun upon Gen. Curtis LeMay
-
Because General Curtis LeMay did a great job for Tokyo bombing, therefore in 1964 The Emperor of Japan gave him an Order of the Rising Sun, Grand Cordon
-
should Japanese apologize for their Chongqing bombing-Holocausts on hundreds of thousands on children and women?
-
Tokyo people only to pay for what the they did the Chongqing bombings. US did a great job.
-
I do agree but, as in most wars, there are innocents that don't condone their governments actions but can't do anything about it. Often these people become the victims.
-
Japanese people only to pay for what they did
-
Japan did not want war against the US The US provoked Japan with oil and steel embargos. Japan had no other choice.
-
The Americans are criminals. Their nation was born on the only complete genocide of the history. Their history is a neverending series of crimes, massacres and atrocities One day they' ll experience in theri cities what bombing means just like heroic Vietnamese, Japanese and others suffered. The US are a cancer to the world
-
War is hell. Don't start nothin', won't BE nothin'.

@macbrack04 "The japanese people, like the germans, did nothing to stop their countries war plans ..." And this is not even true. There were tens of attempts against Hitler's life, that by Stauffenberg being only one. Some young Germans did even suicidal attempts against Hitler's life. As to Japan, it is also very superficial without better knowledge to state that they would all have wanted war. Though authoritarian, there were factions which resisted it.
