I took the simplest though not always the prettiest route the Old Tokaido road, or Route 1 - just one 'koku-do' or national highway all the way from Osaka to Tokyo. It is marked very clearly and often, very easy to follow, occasionally a little bit narrow, and rather a lot of trucks are on it. There are a number of tunnels which are fine to ride through, have sidewalks, but loud and a little bit freaky on a bike. I took these quite slow. I didn't have a map, just followed Route 1 all the way.

Hi, I was wondering if you could show the route you took on this trip. I was planning on biking from Tokyo to Osaka in the spring, but am not based in Japan. It's hard to find info and maps on the net, and if you have any, that would be cool. Thanks :)
