It's my first time in Japan and I wanted to understand more about the local people and culture. So I decided to go with airbnb and since it is also my first solo trip, I made sure that I select a homestay with photos that are airbnb certified. My review on AirBnb: Nobuko San really made my solotravel trip so much pleasant and easier! Her presence is like a mother giving me all the assurance I needed. She picked me up from the nearest station and directed me the easiest way to her house on the first day. She even gave tips on the various exits to take - which helps as I had a bulky luggage. We had a good chat during Dinner on the first day and she gave me insights about the Japanese Culture. She even did my nails and we went for the Beauty Trade Show together (she's gunning for a manicurist license) We managed to communicate as I knew alittle Japanese but if you try, you will find that Nobuko San is a really motherly figure. The room is very neat and clean, all true to the pictures seen here. It is spacious and can easily fit 3 friends or a family of 4. The bed is very comfortable and all basic amenities from microwave oven to water to toothbrushes, towels, flasks etc are provided. There is even a clothes hanger and for ladies, lots of mirrors. What I love most is the ability to adjust and dim lightings so I can sleep in dim lights if I want to. Toilets are clean and the bathroom is huge - there is a full sized bath tub which you can use. It is very convenient to get from the house to the nearest station at Magome and you can pretty much get to anywhere else on the Yamamoto line via Gotanda (just 7 mins ride) . Privacy might be a issue if you are not comfortable with glass windows which people can peep in but it's pretty much the same in most Japanese homes. The next time I visit Tokyo, i'll be sure to come back and stay here again. Here's where I stayed: Higashimagome, Ota, Tokyo, Japan https://www.airbnb.com.sg/rooms/1046691
