MacArthur was not the key player of Pacific. Actually he was harmful person Leahy and King had to tackle. And it's well known fact that invasion to Philippines, MacArthur's wet dream, was totally unnecessary and costly for both Americans and Japanese but especially for local civilians.

Why was it allowed to let the ultimate surrender be done by a top hat wearing civillian clown with a limp ? At least the German military leadership weren't allowed this time to absolve themselves of all responsibility, like in 1918, which paved the way for fascists to blame Germany's defeat on incompetent civillian politicians ,while the Kaiser and his sycophant war mongering militaristic cronies had the real power. Why didn't these Japanese military commanders commit seppuku, which was the tradition ? So much for their bravery while sending hundreds of their own suicide pilots to a certain death.
And why were they allowed to make this a clownish affair by these top hat wearing figures ,which way Japanese politicians maybe dressed around 1918 ? It seems this was an underhand way to make these proceedings laughable and unvallid. -
