The company Sky Cruise, Yokohama, offers among other things sunset helicopter flights of 5 minutes on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The flights are from the heliport at Rinko Park close to the Yokohama Landmark tower. When we asked about going on a Friday they told us that in case of too few bookings they would cancel flights that day. And that happened in the first place. Fortunately a large company booked some flights on that day so they informed us that they would fly any way. We went there ½ hour before at 16.30 to check in and get our safety briefing. First it was given in Japanese then in a kind-of English by a very nice elderly gentleman. We were issued self inflating life vests and were ready to go. The helicopter had two 5-minute flights that evening. First with two other couples as there were room for 4 passengers. We (mom, dad and Johannes, 2 years old) went on the second and last flight as the only passengers. My wife had to keep Johannes in the lap during the flight. We had talked through in advance how to board with our small son because the rotors were turning and made a lot of noise. I took a continuous video during the flight, and my wife took some stills. The pilot was a very nice and energetic man that gave us a beautiful and exhilarating flight with tight turns and low and fast flight. It was definitely one of the most fun fly ride I have ever taken. I can recommend to try this, though 5 minutes feel (and are) way too little. The video contains stills and HD video.
