As a follow-up to the Leftover Food Challenge, a few of us took on the task of living without creating any waste for an entire week. And as we found out, it was no easy feat. Watch the video to find out who’s Captain Planet and who’s the “trashiest” of them all. Special thanks to NTUC FairPrice for making this video possible. Visit http://heretomakelivesbetter.com.sg/better-for-our-planet to find out more about FairPrice's contribution for a better planet. And special thanks to all the viewers who submitted their suggestions for this challenge in the previous video! Here are some of the tips we accumulated over the challenge that you can adopt for yourself to reduce the amount of waste you create: 1. Avoid using straws when possible. 2. Teabags are home-made deodorisers. 3. Recycle used cans. 4. Use a handkerchief instead of tissue. 5. Use masks tubs instead of individual sheet masks. 6. Bring your own reusable containers for takeaways. 7. Print on both sides to save paper. 8. Be conscious of your own waste. 9. Encourage your friends and family to do it with you. 10. Only take what you need when it comes to tissues. 11. Use the back of your receipts as note pads. 12. Reduce the use of plastic bags where possible. 13. Avoid buying individually wrapped snacks if possible. 14. START SMALL!
