But they also undertake fantastical adventures by using otherworldly powers to enter the hearts of people. Their power comes from the Persona, the Jungian concept of the "self"; the game's heroes realize that society forces people to wear masks to protect their inner vulnerabilities, and by literally ripping off their protective mask and confronting their inner selves do the heroes awaken their inner power, and using it to help those in need. Ultimately, the group of Phantom Thieves seeks to change their day-to-day world to match their perception and see through the masks modern society wears. Persona 5 will release on Feb. 14, 2017 in the Americas, for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. Pre-orders are now available at participating retailers. The game is not yet rated by the ESRB. Atlus finally showcased a new trailer of its JRPG Persona 5, which is scheduled to be released this year for PS4 and PS3. The trailer unveiled basically everything we might have wanted to see (at least for now), including the previously teased “Phantom,” the cast and a few bits of gameplay, but unfortunately it did not come with a release date or a narrowed down release window. Most interestingly, the trailer almost certainly indicates that the Hero and the Phantom are indeed one and the same, and that the Phantom will be playable. We also catch a glimpse at what seem to be the game’s menu layout. On top of the Hero, we get to see two more protagonists (Ryuji Sakamoto and Anzu Komaki), a pet Persona named Morgana (together they seem to form a gang of thieves), a clinic owner named Takemi Tae and a military shop owner that goes by the name of Muniehisa Iwai. Quite predictably, Igor seems to be back with a vengeance, and there’s even a little Catherine easter egg. During the livestream it was also announced that first print copies of Persona 4: Dancing All Night will come packed with a blu-ray including special Persona 5 footage. Additionally, a new promotional image was released, showing the Hero and what seems to be his Persona, including a second version in shades of red on the game’s official website.
