I remember seeing pearl jam in 1996 in New Orleans on a school night while I was in high school! The concert was at Ted Gormley stadium which is a open air stadium and when we walked in you could barely see 5 feet in front of you cause everyone in there was smoking weed! We took some acid on the way there and once I smelled all that weed and pearl jam started playing it was like a outer body experience! One of the best times of my life! We got home right when school was starting so still being fucked up we decided to go to school! Me and one of the guys I was with were on the football team and wound up going to school and football practice tripping balls! Our coach said what the fuck is wrong with you idiots?! Get the fuck of my field! So we ran off the field laughing our ass off, smoked a joint and passed out! I will never forget every second of those 2 days!

Well I figured it out..hes talking about getting a package from UPS. Hes mad because they wont leave it on the damn porch. So he has to ask his neighbors if they have seen it. He is annoyed because the neighbors won't accept the package and he doesn't know if it is BOX or a BAG~!!!!

For some reason, I thought the title had nothing to do with the song. Sorta in the same way that "Plush" by STP had nothing to do with murder, so to say. But that the lyrics were probably something Ed was writing or spinning in his head, just unfinished. A vintage amp laying around the studio was nicknamed "Yellow Ledbetter", and the name just became sort of a "label" to put with the song, as musician's do just as a note. The track didn't make the TEN album because of the "unfinished" feel, so they put it to the side and never changed it. It unlikely became a Pearl Jam epic anthem jewel, crowd favorite, and the way it turned out was actually the best way it ever could have reached us. Imagine if they re-wrote it for VS and put it after Blood.
I don't know where I once saw this interpretation, or if it may have been created in my mind for the last 25 years :), but it's plausible, no matter what the fact checkers think. If you ever see, Eddie, ask, and let me know. Wait... maybe I don't wanna know.

Ah, yes. My first kiss song. Seventeen years old, slow-dancing in a tiny, empty church parking lot right next to a big green field, sun going down, beginning of summer, this song spilling out of his car speakers. Felt like I was living in a movie. We never kissed again and the next time I saw him after that was about two months later and we had already broken up, but hands-down would never want to change my story.

Eddie's songs always make me go far away from this society, from this civilization in the empty places of the earth with no man around (A log cabin near the forest would be great) where I can make a fire, look up the stars and reconnect with myself.

True story: I walked into a guitar shop and said I am a beginner, and I would pay them if they could give me a guitar lesson for a song I want to play. "Which song would you like to learn?" "Yellow Lebetter." "I've never heard of that song before." I pop out my iPhone and play the first 15 seconds of the song "Son, there's no way you can play that unless you're a master musician."
