On-board the Nozomi N700A Shinkansen: Tokyo to Kyoto and back「のぞみ N700A 新幹線:東京〜京都」 | Tokyo
Information | History | View | Sightseeing | Video
The video of this Shinkansen ride during my recent trip to Kyoto is yet another test of the Olympus OM-D E-M5 in its video capabilities. Rolling shutter is a visible problem and so is the dynamic range. The sound recording is also not as good as the 7D Mark II, but the small form factor of this camera makes it very easy to carry it and shoot videos without drawing much attention. The 5-axis in-body stabilisation is also very helpful for panning. Regarding the train, this was my first experience on the N700A series trains, which are the latest amongst the 700, N700 and N700A. As ever, it was a pleasant ride. There are very few countries in the world (if any) where one can travel about 550km (excluding air travel) after a whole day's work in the office and still not feel tired! During the outbound journey from Tokyo to Kyoto in the evening, I focussed more on the inside of the train as it was rather dark outside. During the inbound journey, I focussed on capturing the Japanese countryside at the outset of the rainy season.

Nice. Thanks for the upload, bro ;)
The train didn't zip along quite as fast I initially thought it would though - 270kph is around 160mph which is not that much faster than the 125mph most modern tracks do. I was hoping it was more like 270mph. ;) But I guess that is yet to come with the maglev tracks.
