Is there a source for this great music in this episode?

America should take Japan's rail system advice and make ours as good as theirs. I live in Chicago and the rapid transit line I live by the CTA Red and Purple Lines run on tracks that are over their lifetime expected date and in desperate need for a full on renovation from Belmont up to Linden in Wilmette. And I mean it big time because they run on tracks that are over a hundred years old and most of the stations on the line aren't accessible to people who are in wheelchairs like my mom for a good example. Sure Belmont Addison Granville Loyola Howard and Davis stations are fully accessible to people who are in wheelchairs like my mom but what about the rest of the stations maybe someone wants to get off there but can't because they're in a wheelchair and the station doesn't have a elevator to take them down to street level. I wish someone from Japan would come here and see our transit system I can guarantee that he'll make it happen.

Unfortunately we are extremely behind in regards to Japan, other Asian countries and also many European countries. We are indeed making progress but it will take decades for us to catch up,

Being a systems engineer from Czech Republic (Communism, criminalism, dunno you choose) I absolutely adore Japanese way of life - even Japanese subway is absolutely awesome!:)

And really hats off to that man who brought the subway to his city and country. And that was very different time and see how much difficulties he faced before his dream could become reality. Thats something called determination. And even then the 2 km underground line was completed well on time using that era's technology. Thats really called a great achievement.

In the documentary it says at one place that Japanese subway technology was exported to other such systems for example metro systems in Delhi and Ho Chi Minh. How we wish they also exported their timing and punctuality culture to Delhi Metro. The trains here arrive at an interval of 8-10 minutes on many lines, will stop all of a sudden between stations with annoying "Sorry for the delay" messages playing in the background and trains are over crowded much of the time. And this when our system has much less people using the metro. Only God knows what will happen with more and more people starting to use metro.

1914? Do you guys realize he had to go by ship? [Unless he could hop a quick boat to get on a train in China to Russia - nah, not likely]. That means he most likely had to go around either the African or South American Horns as the Panama Canal wasn't completed [unless he left after August 15th]. That's a long trip [and scary given the Titanic sank 2 years earlier]!
Now that's dedication... -
Narita Express to Chuo Line - how to get to Mamasan.
Current exchange rate is 120 Yen per US$. So to go 25 miles, it will cost you $2.50 - 10 cents a mile [of course, prices may have raised a little since this video was made]. Name any other highly dense city near Tokyo's size that are remotely that cheap!
BTW, I've been to the Tokyo Train Museum. Its worth the price of admission. We still have the video of them turning one of the engines [similar to how they turn the cable cars in San Fran]. -

8:00 Loving it!!! :)
The initial Red line was built with the help Japan... but after that DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation) started other lines(Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, Violet) on it's own!! Soon we are gonna have driver less trains in Brown and Magenta lines which are gonna start in Late 2016!!
Thanks Japan for the "start"!!! -
For crowded subway stations, there should be a dedicated platform located in between the tracks exclusively for passengers to disembark (for trains at both directions). However, passengers waiting on the main platform for arriving trains have no access to them because of one-way turnstiles built for those platforms. When trains arrived, the doors on that side will open first, then they'll close after all passengers exits the train. Then the doors at the other side will open for the main platform for passengers to enter the train without any jostles. This is a construction styling that should be incorporated in busy train stations all over the world.

They constructed that first line that long ago in two years yet it takes 5 billion for the TTC to extend a line

lol the tube! you can't compare it to tokyo's tube...excuse me! uh uh
-
Mexico city's metro system is a total disaster, the cars ride under the constant risk of explode, that's sounds like a joke but it's a sadly reality. Tokyo's metro seems too advanced compared with my city's metro.

If there's one thing I've learnt here it's that Peter Barakan would make a shit train driver.
