narrow 1.8m house by YUUA architects slotted into tokyo neighborhood www.designboom.com/architecture/yuua-architects-1-8m-house-tokyo-07-14-2015/ ~ measuring at a width of 2.5 meters and a depth of 11 meters, this extremely narrow sized property is by japanese firm YUUA architects. despite the size restrictions, the compact ‘1.8m house’ in tokyo has managed to reserve, arrange and maximize the space available to evoke a sense of openess while preserving privacy for the inhabitants and family cat. constructed with a steel frame, the building’s fully glass façade overlooks the street of a quiet neighborhood. divided into several floor levels, there are no closed spaces, therefore each program overlaps the other to generate spatial expanse, allowing the inhabitants to catch different glimpses of various areas withing the property. techniques such as submerged and wall storage, minimalistic interiors accentuate the fluidity of the space. natural daylight and fresh air flows through the openings on the façade and as the space gets deeper, two skylights brightens up the space.
