I don't know what these are officially called. Neither does Ryosuke. So we call them "Vegetable Vending Machines." There's about six of these in a 2km radius of our house, run by different farmers. Sometimes the vegetables are cheaper than our local supermarket; sometimes they are more expensive. Thankfully, everything is so close (yay for Tokyo), so comparing prices between the three sources only takes like 15 minutes. If they're close enough, I just buy from the vending machines. I've chatted with the farmer who stocks them (his farm is right next to our building). I like supporting locals. And stuff. Learn something new every day, right?
