Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo 「東京都現代美術館」 | Tokyo

On the northernost part of Kiba Park, Koto Ward, this museum was built in 1995 with a focus on contemporary works of art. As it houses its own collection we can always see these works, but what attracts many visitors are loan exhibitions. It is so huge in space that it can hold even large-scale exhibitions that many other museums in Japan can't afford. By checking what is going on in this museum constantly you can understand the current trends in art as well as great achievements of past maestros. 木場公園の一番北にある東京都現代美術館は現代作品に焦点をあてた施設として1995年にオープンしました。常設展もつねにおこなえるほど所蔵品もありますが、なんといってもここを魅力的にしているのはその広さではないでしょうか。この広大なスペースを使って過去に何度も大掛かりな展覧会が開かれました。「ジャスパー・ジョーンズ展」など、他では出来なかったものもできるというのが、この美術館の強みです。交通の便がちょいと悪いですが、疲れたら木場公園もあるし、一度はいって損はない美術館です。
