Cristino Bermudez Salcines, Miles didn't hate his audience he hated white audience in America which transferred over to all white audience. Which was the case for many of the black artist or athletes that where in the spot light during 60's and sum until their death. Coltrane wasn't so aggressive as Miles but these where two men that came from different back round and different experiences. Some people were open about their hate like Miles or young Ali and some kept it internalize like Arthur Ashe and Jackie Robinson but I think Miles biggest burden which were many artist during his time like James Baldwin, Nina Simone, Donny Hathaway and so on is that these(white) people love you for your art and that's it! They don't care about you, your family, your wife or kids, your best friend your mother they just care about you entertaining them as Nina Simone once said "they don't care about me, they just care about my music". So if you want to fully understand the music, then understand the person, if you want to understand the person understand their environment and even if you do understand all those things then maybe you might understand 25% of the artist. As many artist from painter, writers, musicians and so on have said is "the hardest thing to understand in myself". At least Miles was open and forthcoming with you, he didn't care about you, what you thought, how you feel, if you bought his albums or not he cared about His music. If he was a cynic then it means his music is cynical but at the end of the day you loved his music but you didn't like his ways or the way he spent his money but in the end you are being rather cynical. We all sell our souls to survive you can't go to war and not have blood on your hands. Jazz is dirty, blues is dirty, soul is dirty, gospel music is dirty every form of black american art is dirty why? Because America is dirty but don't down play Miles for who he is.

Crazy to think -- everyone in this Miles band is still alive EXCEPT "Young" Tony Williams, who has been dead almost 20 years.
