Hello! I'm back with my friend Ami and we'll talk a little more about Toyko/Osaka dialect. In this lesson, we compare the difference in sounds. Enjoy!

おふたりさん、なんか西洋人たちに誤解されてますよ。「なんだ、大して違わないじゃないか、パリとマルセイユの言葉の違いの方が大きい」（フランス人）とか、Eli Malinskyという人などは、お二人が東京と大阪の間のごく一部の言葉のアクセントの違いについてしか説明しなかったために、それが日本語の方言の違いの全てだ、と早合点、勘違いしてしまったのでしょう、「アメリカと日本にはほとんどアクセントの違いしかない、イギリスやドイツには地方によって多様な方言があり、語彙やニュアンスの違いもある」などと書いています。私が思うに、イギリスやドイツの方言の違いなんぞより、日本語のそれの方が全体的にはるかに大きく、激しいと思います。ほとんど外国語同士と言っても過言ではありません。お二人もそう思うでしょう？そう言ってやりたいのですが、残念ながら私は英語ができません。お二人に、以上のことを西洋人たちに、英語で説明していただきたいです。よろしくお願いします。

Funny, I think a lot of English speakers probably pronounce 先生 the same as people from Osaka then. I didn't notice a difference until you guys pointed it out and then I realized that's how I pronounced it haha.

Does this lengthening of vowels also apply to other variations of 関西弁 or is this a specific trait of 大阪弁？

For words like "Suimasen", did it used to be " Sumimasen"?

Enjoyed the video! Am learning Japanese now, and when Ami said how they (Kansai) omit the particles and just say the word abit longer, I was thinking how wonderful that would be because I don't know about everyone but I have alot of challenges with particles like を、は、が、etc so it would be nice to get rid of them x3 hahaha
