Kisai Rorschach is available exclusively from Tokyoflash Japan: http://www.tokyoflash.com/en/watches/kisai/rorschach In 1921 Swiss psychologist Hermann Rorschach pioneered the now famous "Rorschach inkblot test". A series of mysterious ink blots used to evaluate a patient's thoughts & emotions by their response as to what the patterns remind them of. Kisai Rorschach is the first watch from Tokyoflash Japan to use an ePaper display from E Ink. The unique way that ePaper displays work means that the segments appear to be seamless. This is ideal for replicating the appearance of an inkblot on paper. Reading the time is straightforward and there are 3 difficulty modes programmed into the watch: Easy, Medium and Hard. In all 3 modes the hours are shown in the top-right, the minutes in the bottom-left, the rest of the screen is a reflection of these digits which creates the inkblot effect. You can easily switch between the difficulty modes by holding the top button. The date and alarm time are shown in the same way and you can change between time, date and alarm time by pressing the top button. The ePaper display can be changed to show either Positive (black ink on white paper), Negative (white ink on black paper), or Auto where the display will switch between them during day & night to make the watch easier to read. The ePaper display used in Kisai Rorschach is highly energy efficient because it only uses power when the display changes. Once an image is set on the screen, it will remain there indefinitely without using any power at all. Kisai Rorschach also includes a power saving Sleep Mode. You may for example want to set the watch to use sleep mode between 1am and 7am when you are usually asleep. When you do so, Rorschach will display a static image, a different cryptic ink blot design on each day of the week. During this time, the display will use zero power. By using Sleep Mode you can extend the battery life to last up to 3 years. Of course, you can wake up the watch at any time by pressing a button. Kisai Rorschach uses a standard CR2016 watch battery which can be replaced easily and both leather and stainless steel straps are fully adjustable so will fit your wrist perfectly. Made of stainless steel, Kisai Rorschach has a super slim case, at just 6.2mm thin so fits comfortably on your wrist. The surface has a beautifully polished finish with sand blasted detail. There is an IP black and IP silver option in all stainless steel and three leather strap options with color accented frame; white leather with a silver frame, black leather with a black frame and brown leather with a gold frame. ============= In February 2010, Tokyoflash Japan opened its Design Studio Blog to showcase concept designs and request ideas for new watch designs from fans. The idea for Kisai Rorschach was submitted by Sam Jerichow from Germany. Blog reader & watch designer Sam Jerichow says: "First I want to thank everybody who made this happen. That's my family, my fans and Tokyoflash who started all this and brought my idea to this point. I have submitted two ideas. The original idea -inspired by the inkblot test invented by Hermann Rorschach- was accepted pretty well back then but it had little flaws. When I looked back at the idea, I came up with an update and that impressed even more. I know that I'm a little crazy but that the fun I had making this concept was received this way is truly fantastic. The tricky part was finding a balance between readability and crypticness while always keeping the inspiration in mind. This sort of work could end up anywhere... Now the watch is real, not just an idea anymore. Have ideas people, have dreams and try to be yourself. Maybe you're nuts, maybe you're brilliant. That's just a matter of perspective." ============= Music: 'Breaking Bad' by Jahzzar http://www.jamendo.com/en/track/979147/breaking-bad
