My friend and I rented kimonos in the Asakusa area of Tokyo and had a blast! If you live in Tokyo or plan to visit, I highly recommend the place we rented from. For only 3,000yen (~$30 USD) we got to choose our kimonos, were dressed by the women there, and got to wear them (plus shoes and a bag) around Asakusa for 4 hours. They also let us rent accessories for only 100yen (~$100 USD) each. The shop is quite small and we did our own hair and make-up before we got there, but I think it was a great value for the money!
