Keiichi Tsuchiya, the real-life Drift King, had a cameo in Initial D before The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift. Here in Act 23 of Initial D First Stage, Tsuchiya himself is on the phone talking to Bunta, the father of Takumi "Tak" Fujiwara, the legendary driver of Mt. Akina's Toyota Sprinter Trueno AE86. Tsuchiya is the only one that have talked to bunta, thats why he is so famous XD
There's been a number of them since too.

Final stage added the biggest one: Tsuchiya meets Takumi in person in an end credits scene when the latter's watching a circuit race. That motorcyclist from the Third Stage movie that passes Takumi is probably also him; why else would they shoehorn such a seemingly random scene in when not doing so would mean less animation work?

Some of the pro racers in Fourth and Fifth stage also have uniforms referencing Tsuchiya's pattern and/or colors.
I'm Curious as to what the song is thats playing in the background, it sounds nice.
