Jason in Tokyo - Vlog #2 - $80/night hotel room | Tokyo
Information | History | View | Sightseeing | Video
Thursday night I checked into a "budget" hotel in Tokyo near Ueno station. I was able to book a room for all three nights of my stay, but had to take a "smoking" room on the first night. It cost 7400yen per night, or about $80 American. The staff were friendly and helpful and spoke a little English. Curious things about this hotel. Even tho I was staying consecutive nights, they require you to leave the hotel by 10am and not return until 3pm. You can't sleep in or stay in your room all day. No room key or card key - just a code that also gets you in the front door if you return after midnight (which I did on one night). So if you forget your code, you're screwed. Also, I misspoke in the vlog - internet access in the room was free. Here is their site in English: http://www.superhotel.co.jp/en/index.html I plan on posting a Tokyo vlog each day this week, so stay tuned. -Jason

Oh alright thanks man much appreciated I plan to go in August.

@Pearlharbor350 google "yen to dollars" and you'll find lots of conversion apps. At least $125 a day would be my suggestion, but maybe a little more if you want to do lots of shopping before you return.

7400 yin a night? How much is that in us dollars? Also I plan to visit for 3-5 days how much money should I bring?
-
@shizukashiawase Tokyo is not cheap, but I'm sure you can find Hostels and capsule hotels that are even cheaper than this place
-
is this the cheapest hotel in tokyo?
-
indian food does rock :)

I recommend something small and portable that's easy to use and upload. I mostly use my digital camera - a CasioExilim and I have used a FLIP camera too. The Xacti is really nice too.
-
yeah - I figured out the steam thing before I even posted the vid, but it's fun for comments. Yep - a small window with a view of other tall buildings..:)

I wasn't talking about Jason. LOL! I was talking about the one guy who keeps leaving insulting messages on his videos. Hence why I wrote at the end "Maybe someone like Jason?" Which means I was not talking about Jason personally.
-
close the door when showering, the steam will set off the fire alarm! lol
-
sound the alarm for steam? Maybe that means in case of fire sound the alarm or something?!
-
I do find it funny that you are insulting the Jet Programme for being over there teaching English and it's a waste of money and here you are using HORRIBLE English grammar. Just goes to show you that you should've probably had a JET Programme teacher to teach you better English. Maybe someone like Jason? Just a thought.

If you do not mind walking a couple blocks from the forward of Ueno station you can stay at I think it was Nikko which is like 50000 yen a night. That is a budget hotel I stayed at. You stayed at an average business hotel not a budget hotel.

Ohhh there you go talking about the wonderful Indian food again! Now my stomach is REALLY growling... what about dessert? Did they have Indian desserts too? How did you like those? I think it is really neat how they use silver leaf on some of their little dessert bars. Forgot what they are called--- it's late and I'm tired. Think they are called "burfi" or something close to that.

Nope - it's the Super Hotel Ueno eki
-
no - I didn't record my presentation.
-
hmm, 10am rule is very strange, maybe they want to like clean all the rooms or somthing? that toilet looks like a robot
-
Seems like a nice, cozy room. :) That's weird with no code or key, though. Hope your meeting and presentation went well! :)

Sometimes over here if you leave the bathroom door open, the steam will set off the smoke alarm, which could be a problem.

Nice video. I love sumo. Maybe because I am Mongolian. Keep up the good work.
