Japanese seafood is some of the best in the world and Tokyo has some of the best restaurants to try it out. With that in Mind I headed out with Dustin From Solotravelblog to confirm this. We were not disappointed. Hi Dave, I really appreciate your help in the past. May I please ask you a question. There is an Eikaiwa in Toyko that wants to hire me ASAP. But the contract does not sound like I could survive. They want me to sign a 3 year contract, and it would be part time initially, and would only pay 160,000 Yen. And they want me to pay a 48000 Yen "visa deposit". They said they can take the deposit out of my monthly check, but I would have nothing it seems like. Even if I lived in a Gaijin house, I would barely scrape by every month. Do you think I should take the offer and do you think I can make it on this salary or do you think I should wait for a better opportunity?

Nice to see someone bring up the wonders of hamayakis...but a couple of points from me to help your subs if they ever go to experience this type of restaurant....that is not a tuna steak....thats the collar to the yellowtail tuna (Kama-yaki), I would recommend trying the Kani-miso at these places (especially tasty in winter when they are in season). Finally a real fun time can be had at "Uomaru" (iirc the sign is the kanji for fish plus a small circle) in Ebisu yokocho. This is more down to earth and more noisy and informal place.

Here in the United States we refer to those Clams as Scallops, but we don't normally get them fresh and in the shell. Looks like they may have opened up the shells and clean out the inedible parts. They looked wonderful.
-
