@macpduff 9.0 is not the strongest. The strongest earthquake to ever be recorded was in Chile in 1960. That was a 9.5 magnitude. The strongest on the Richter scale is 10.

@legohelicopter There is no "top" to the scale, it a log 10 scale, there has never been one measured over 10, but the scale goes on to infinity.
