Opting for simplicity and harmony, organisers unveiled the official emblems for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics on Monday seven months after an initial design was scrapped over allegations of plagiarism. The winning Olympic logo, by Japanese designer Asao Tokolo, is entitled Harmonized Checkered Emblem. It features a ring of interconnected indigo blue rectangular shapes to represent different countries, cultures and ways of thinking while the design for the Paralympic Games represents a slight variation of that for the Olympics.
