Ikefukurou Owl Cafe in Ikebukuro Japan - Alodia | Tokyo
Information | History | View | Sightseeing | Video
Visited the Ikefukurou Owl Cafe in Ikebukuro, Japan! Such a wonderful experience! To those concerned about the welfare of these owls, we also feel you.:c I'm not sure how these businesses run but my Japanese friends said it is legal to buy and own an owl in Japan. Also all the owls in the cafe are for sale but are very expensive. These are probably domesticated breeds. Special thanks to Eric Ejercito for editing this video! http://fb.com/ikefukurouCafe http://www.ikefukuroucafe.com/ http://fb.com/AlodiaGosiengfiao http://fb.com/EricEjercito

Disoriented wild birds kept chained in unnaturally close proximity, being constantly touched by a stream of humans in exchange for money... is this really Japan?? What next? Cute Asian children chained up in a line for your customers' cuddling pleasure?
-
what is this? A new kind of slavery? Poor animals just chained to entertain dumb turists with boring life.

i'm thinking it's obvious you can't use flash on camera as it will probably startle the owls; you dont want a room full of owls go crazy. when owls just sit there and stare at people, it's normal, but when i do it, i'm crazy.

Dayum 1:15 that owl must be grumpy cuz of the restrictions. He's like saying "fuck off"
-
what kind of owl is in 2:32 alodia?

One part of me doesn't like that these owls are tethered and unable to fly or leave and that sucks. Another part of me, however, is aware that these owls live better than and are healthier than almost all wild owls.

Why wrap an owl in plastic like that? It's probably going to die.
