I Only Had 8 Hours In Tokyo | Tokyo

On my way back to the United States from Vietnam, I had an 8 hour layover in Tokyo's Narita Airport. Rather than just sitting around, I paid about $50 to take the Narita Express train into central Tokyo to see what I could see. My two goals were to see the big cross walk featured in the film "Lost In Translation" and to eat at a sushi restaurant with a rotating bar.

Hi Anton, are we allowed to just leave the Tokyo airport to explore the city without a visa?

Wow! This is great! I'm also planning to do a layover in Narita soon from Palau to Manila but I just thought of visiting the town of Narita. But this video gave me an idea that it is possible to go to Tokyo with only 8 hours of layover. Thanks!

I shoot documentaries and television for networks like Discovery Channel (U.S.), sometimes, when I'm overseas, I'm able to sometimes extend my ticket, so that I have a few weeks to travel before returning home. After working long days without breaks, I usually have a little money saved up. Last year, I put most of the Iceland trip on a credit card that then gave me airline miles to offset the cost of the ticket. I am currently in a lot of credit card debt.

how do you make money for all this travelling? :p

Good info, thanks!

Haha, I'll take it! Thanks for watching :)

@jurmongler Water douching, haha, yes, indeed. I have no idea about the Starbucks price comparison, I think it was about the same.
-
I can see you LOVE that water Douching action. Warm is definitely better than the 1st button you pressed. How much was the drink at Starbucks in Yen compared to the price back in Dallas?

US SIM card cell-phones DO work in Japan if you have 3G on the 2100MHz band. Most smart-phones from AT&T and T-Mobile do. They also have CDMA 1X roaming if you're with Verizon/Sprint. All of this requires roaming enabled on your account (all customer service in US before leaving). Glad you enjoyed Japan! ;-)
