Explosions at US base in Sagamihara Japan Aug. 23, 2015 - Updated 15:25 UTC-4 Japanese authorities say a fire broke out at a US military facility near Tokyo. Local residents say they heard multiple explosions. Police in Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture, say they received several calls shortly after midnight on Monday reporting the explosions at the US Army's Sagami General Depot. Fire authorities in the city say an official at the depot called them to say a fire broke out after what is believed to be an explosion at a warehouse in the compound. The US Army told the fire department that the warehouse stores cylinders and oxide that could have caught fire. No injuries have been reported so far. And local officials say they haven't issued an evacuation order for residents because the fire is unlikely to spread outside the base. The depot sits on about 200 hectares and has warehouses and repair facilities.
