Host Club in Japan - The Bad Stuff | Tokyo
Information | History | View | Sightseeing | Video
The negative sides of being a Japanese host, trust me, there's quite a lot. A typical host club in Japan isn't all fun and games, and the job of being a host in Japan isn't really that great. The pay is usually pretty crap, you have to put up with a lot of shit, the customers can be very rude, and you might need to prostitute yourself. While there's clubs in all major cities, Tokyo host clubs are certainly abundant, the main ones are found in Osaka. If you don't know a lot about what a Host is in Japan, then I suggest you check out my introductory video on hosting, found here: "Japanese Host Club - An Introduction" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDNzVdI6aKI -------------------------- Follow me on Facebook! https://www.facebook.com/TokyoZeplin Follow me on Twitter! https://twitter.com/TokyoZeplin Or my music website/blog: www.zeplin.jp -------------------------- I have a playlist dedicated to the Japanese host culture, so be sure to check that out here: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDE3TCzOw_KNr4ejA18R6w4uBKzoqouI0 Also be sure to check out my playlist with videos on Japanese culture here: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDE3TCzOw_KNDUEELu_lePDqszlcnOIQZ The Great Happiness Space: Tale of an Osaka Love Thief is a 2006 documentary film by Jake Clennell, describing a host club in Osaka. The male hosts and their female customers are interviewed, and through the interviews we learn about the nature of hosts clubs and why the customers are coming there. You can see more on the official website: http://www.thegreathappinessspace.com/ You can also find the host documentary on veoh, netflix, and a lot of other movie services. It's a great documentary on the Japanese host culture, what it's like to work in a host club in Japan, and really gives insight in the Japanese male host culture. Here's a few other good videos on the subject: "I went to a Host Club in Japan" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6g6K00gJeM For first timers (girls) it's $1,000 Yen no matter what. And it comes with HUGE drink. When they have a new customer their MAIN goal isn't to make money, but to make sure they are enjoying themselves so you win their hearts and they become a loyal customer. If they charged their first timers tons of money, they most likely wont return. bussiness. also forgot to talk in the video that me and this host drew each other. he loved my art skill and one of the body guard host kept looking over and forgot to do his Job haha. And he was also a Manga fan and we talked about our fav Mangas haha Funny Story: When I entered the host club they didn't greet me like their suppose to in a group because they thought I was a host boy in training. HAHA no JOKE! So they gave me werid looks for few seconds in dead silent until my host said something. "Host Club" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-lnOhhl8M0 Host clubs -- the male equivalent to the more common hostess clubs in Tokyo -- mostly cater to rich women who pay for the company of young men. Other customers include hostesses from nearby clubs who bring their male clients over, and even normal, attractive girls intrigued or bored enough for a rare visit. Some girls spend huge percentages of their salaries for their once-a-week or once-a-month. "Japanese Sex Culture: Host Clubs 外国人向けホストクラブ紹介ビデオ" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSB2MciWxCI Kabuki-cho Japan is a strange place. It's a night heaven for men and women. A lot of things goes on behind these "host" clubs. Stories of rich women spending over $10,000 during a single night is not uncommon. Celebrities are among the customers as well.

Ru a host????? Or were U?
-
I don't know but I would find the statements in this video more realistic and trustful if coming from a Japanese or from someone who had worked as a host... Some of what you said may be true at some extent, but overall your video is not convincing at all...

The majority of all host clubs will not tolerate prostitution. And a lot will strongly discourage their hosts to date anyone. Dating customers is definitely off. I don't know any host boys who would ever date their customers. It's just about doing the job and getting paid. It's actually a pretty annoying job. Most host boys can't stand their female customers. I've been a dancer. I've had to put on a smile just to have the customer open their wallet. But most customers will be too overzealous and arrogant. They will take it way too far in their heads.

Actually I wouldn't go to a host bar but I wouldn't knock it. It sounds like a job like any other. It's more of an entertainment type job. The ladies know what they're doing, the gents who work there are aware of what's going on as well. I think as long as the guys understand that this is their job they'll do well. And the ladies...........well, HELLO you're paying for their attention. That's the whole point. Don't take it seriously, just enjoy the show and all will be well.

i think employers would want to know. it shows youve got what it takes to get the job done

other than the money being low i really am struggling to see the downside of being a male host. think i might move to japan:)
-

the way Philip describes host / host club/ etc its exactly similar to this manga called Play boy blues

Yeah this work might seem like a glamorous thing when they only show you the glittery side. But as you said that glitery side is only visible when you are in top 10. other than that, drinking is the reason bechind their income. A lot of the short docus on number 1s make it look very fancy and grand, but unless you are one from top 10 there isn't anything fancy at all. Majority of the guys there are just desperate and most just end up messing up their health badly, not to mention their mental state. After watching some serious docus on the subject i find the whole thing really sad and depressing. It's still very fascinating, though. I also find it hard to believe that they all are so useless that they cannot do anything else. And working at such place doesn't seam like a very easy way out either. As well as some of them saying that they don't drink is a hard to believe thing too, since that's the main thing that brings money to them.
I think if i had the money i would just go there and be like "Here, take that. No need to drink or play the prince charming, just enjoy yourself a little without needing to worry about how to make some money". Cuz seriously it's just a sad world for both the girls who come in there and the guys who sell "dreams" as they say. -
It wasn't a surprise to me when he said that they lie to women. ~_~
-
Do most of the same negatives go for hostesses?
-
I wouldn't care if my host has to lie. That's what he's there for, to say the things I want. But he shouldn't be forced to drink too much alcohol!
-
I still want to go to Host clubs I want someone to sweet talk to me , and I wouldn't treat them rudely , I am not that kind person anyway , I want to be their friends and enjoy my time with them :3 ... at least I know they are lying so I wouldn't have to be tricked I already know they lie so if I fell for it it will be my false

Perfect hosts are sociopath? Maybe!

i have a friend who's a host and ya, he pretty much said the same things you did.. he tells me about how some of his clients are abusive with him and how he has to work part time because he has another job, so his free time is practically non-existant, he doesn't ever go shopping because he doesnt have time to cook real food, so he will just eat out or get conveniant store food.. he also got minor acute pancreatitis from all the drinking.. life as a host pretty much sucks lol, he says the one redeeming quality about it is that he can meet people from all over
You looks very interested in the lifestyle. But reallyze that you re dealling with the most powerfull and economical way of life of the planet... the wealth and powerfull japanese mafia families and relatives..that even the police respect. Where do you see that kind of thing happen... just in russia haha...anyway...
That lifestyle is keeped alive because then. Why there is no taxes? for that reason... they control everything...
The tip that i can give to you is. Do a plastic surgery to harmonize your face the jap girls like simetric faces...(i not saying that you re ugly but a plastic is just 10 000 dollars of full reconstruct... to be some influence in the middle of that world, that money is nothing and i get it per month in my youth), learn fluent japanese, and go chase your dream. You look the crazy one from Armaggeddoonn.. he got a hooll world in his hands...just kidding.
The friends hosts that where serious about the job.......... that i worked in shinjuku and osaka ussually where very succesfull usually go to korea or thailand and make plastic surgery, the best ones (doctors) are in that countries... to get a more wealth and attractive look... pay attention that in all documentaries (ON YOUTUBE) has ugly guys.. that is the lowerst clubs... the good ones has a income of 2 000 000 000 yen per month. and the hosts get 2.000.000 yen per 14 days..or even on a day.... i am not jokking with you.. if you like chase it.. only because you had a bad trip dont mean that is a lost cause...
Its a superficial world, a rich one, but you need to be colded heart and dont let this get up in your mind... be focused... cheers..
