Hilleberg Akto - One Person Tent | Tokyo

Hi folks, I’m sharing my Hilleberg Akto tent. Hilleberg classifies the Akto as an all-season tent and it has been shown to withstand severe wind. Below please find the specs and additional information. Have a nice day! Hilleberg Akto One Person Tent - Specs Pack weight: 3 lbs. 8 oz. or 1.6 kg Inner height: 36 inches or 91 cm Inner length: 87 inches or 220 cm Inner width: 36 inches or 91 cm Vestibule width: 30 inches or 76 cm Vestibule length: is about 42 inches but it tapers down to a cone shape It has good ventilation in both the head area and foot box It comes with 10 high grade aluminum V-pegs, guy lines and easy to adjust line locks It also comes with a carry bag and packs down to about 6” x 23” or 15.2 x 58 cm Approximate cost: $400 - $498 USD When I purchased my Akto, they were only $369 and I got the optional footprint as part of a package deal. The optional footprint normally cost $60.00 US dollars and will add 9 ounces or 255 grams to the overall pack weight My apologies, in the video I said it comes with one 10 mm pole. The tent actually comes with one 9 mm high grade aluminum pole. I do have an extra tent pole and that one is 10 mm. However, for extra strength, you can run two 9 mm poles through the sleeve or one 10 mm pole. This gives the tent even more strength to support light powder snow and withstand heavy winds. This tent will sag with heavy wet snow, but it can be pushed away from the inside by simply tapping on the fabric. Also, the inner mesh can be pitched alone in warm/dry. Please note that this tent is not freestanding so it is not suitable for setting up on hard surfaces where lashing is not possible. This is the shelter I have chosen for myself, but it may not be for everyone because it is not freestanding. In addition, there are many other sheltering options on the market, including using a tarp, hammock system or building your own shelter. Only you can decide what shelter system is right for you. Applications: Hunting, fishing, backpacking, backcountry bushcrafting, winter camping, snowmobiling, kayaking, exploring, survival, etc… The Hilleberg Akto is a Red Label tent. It is made out of a 1200 weight Kerlon material, which is incredibly strong given its weight ratio. Hilleberg also makes Black Label tents, which are made out of 1800 weight Kerlon and come with 10 mm poles. The Black Label models are expedition grade tents, but they are also heavier and more expensive. The Snug Pack Scorpion 2 is another good tent, but it is not quite of the same premium quality as the Hilleberg Akto. Another excellent option for the ultra-light person is the Hilleberg Enan coming in at 39 ounces or 1.1 KG. I’m sure whatever shelter you choose will be the right one for you. Bottom line, the Hilleberg Akto is a high grade tent for serious outdoor people. Here's the clip of the Hilleberg Akto handling in hurricane force conditions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1iJvk6tKs4 Note: I have no opinion or judgement on how heavy or light people make their backpacks. Pack loads, contents and accessories are personal preference and I’m sure whatever you choose to carry in your pack will be right for you. Respectfully

Ty for the review but does the tent have ventilation in order to avoid condensation?
-
That tent costs 530 dollars, and from what I gather it is a single wall, non freestanding condensation nightmare.
If Moosejaw has a 40 percent coupon for Christmas I might get the tent. Now the Big Agnes Copper Spur UL or MSR Hubba NX seem like better choices. -
I know it's tent porn but I love Hilleberg.
-
Worth noting that a mesh inner is available for hot weather, the mesh inner can be pitched without the outer fly

Thank you for doing video, was a really good review of the tent.
Best wishes from Scotland -

Torch? Really? Great review though

Beautifully made piece of equipment.
Thanks for sharing! -
Nice video. Very thorough. I have admired the Hilleberg tents myself. You are correct about erecting a traditional tent (inner goes up first, then the fly) in the rain. Messy affair... things will get wet. Plus it's more work. I have a Robens Starlight 1 tent that goes up (and vents) similar to yours. I would trust the Akto more than the Starlight though in a really bad storm. It is made better, but they are similar in concept though. Thanks for posting that.

Nice video. Very informative. But FYI they are guy lines or guy out points not "guide lines".

Very nice review of the Hilleberg Akto. One question. You mention the tent is 'connected to the fly' but it appears the tent is a single wall design with no fly.

I wished I lived in the US instead of the UK.

It costs a lot of money but you get a lot for the price and if you look after it it should last you twenty years or more.
