Tonkatsu Wako Takumian is arguably the best Tonkatsu restaurant in Tokyo. Located at the top floor of Isetan in Shinjuku, this restaurant serves up Tonkatsu prepared from brand pork that has been carefully sourced and prepared by expert chefs. Over the last half century since its founding in 1958, "Tonkatsu Wako" has set up restaurants all over Japan. "Tonkatsu Wako Takumian" carries on the "Wako" tradition of excellence, but serves dishes prepared from an even higher grade of ingredients in a calm and luxurious dining environment. The Iberian Pig pork loin cutlet is the highest class of Iberian Pig Bellota from Spain. As it is fed acorn, it is rich in oleic acid and features marbled lean meat just like beef, high-quality fat and a melt-in-the-mouth texture. When biting into each piece of fillet, you will experience the perfect crunchy coating, the absence of any odor, and the fatty and richly flavored meat. The juiciness that comes with each bite is that which you'd never though would be possible from a fried, fillet of pork. Although tonkatsu is the main dish at Takumian, fried seafood is also on the menu. The deep friend prawns were exceptionally fresh and flavorful. Fried at just the right temperature, you will experience a perfectly cooked crunchy outer shell and chewy tenderness. Other menu items and even the condiments were of the upmost quality and simply delicious. We give this restaurant the coveted 5/5 poops rating here at JapaneseEats!
