A first hand video report made for H.R. Giger to bring certainty about the fate of the Tokyo Bar, who had lost all ties to it. Commentary is in Swissgerman, a Swiss dialect of German and Hans Rudolf Giger's native language. In 1995 HRGiger had already asked about that bar, but because surprisingly he himself was not able to find the address it was impossible for any of his staff to locate the place. Even if they happened to be in Tokyo at the time. Most of Tokyo's residents were not aware of the Bar's existence. Giger never visited the bar. Had it been located in Shibuya, Ginza or Harajuku, it would have likely become a landmark for fans traveling to Japan. Here are some facts: -The bar was built 1988. -By the mid 90's the "Giger Bar" had been replaced with a "Gala City" sign above the main entrance. -In 1996 the bar was closed and a sign announced the construction of new apartment. As of 2011, the location looks still very much like in the 2004 video. For those who want to pinpoint the location with GPS or Google Earth, here are the coordinates: 35 38'30.83"N 139 43'11.67" E Enthusiats can see the site using Google Street View. The postal address is: Gala City 5-10-15 Shiroganedai MINATO-KU Tokyo Japan 108-0071 The fate of the decor remains unknown to Hansruedi Giger and his staff. For many, the H.R.Giger's bar in Tokyo remains a mystery. But due to Japanese strict building codes, the bar could not meet the artistic expectations of the bar in Gruyeres or Chur.
