Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift: Monte Carlo | Tokyo
Information | History | View | Sightseeing | Video
When Dennis McCarthy hit the ignition on The Fast & the Furious: Tokyo Drift's 1971 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, it was as if the whole world stopped for a moment in anticipation. As the starter spun, no one dared breathe, it seemed, for fear that the Holley carburetor atop the Bill Mitchell "World Class" 509-cubic-inch big-block V8 would suck in the entire atmosphere in one mighty gulp. Then the engine exploded to life: A big-block with a big cam sounds like tectonic plates colliding. Has anyone who watched Tokyo Drift actually thought about how much that car would have cost for a High School student? Just the Autometer gauges in that car had to have cost about $1,000. Not to mention the actual engine. If we're supposed to believe it's a 632 crate engine, those cost at the least 10k, and go up to over 20k..

i was in a 69 Nova with a 572 CI that almost killed me. that engine is not a joke

It's a 1970 Monte Carlo guaranteed. The 1970 first gen was the only Monte to have round lights on the front. Every Monte after had square.

This and the Plymouth GTX aka "The Hammer" at the end were my favorite cars in the movie, mind you I'm also a big fan of tuner cars. My problem is that they expect us to believe that a high school kid built this monster by himself. This MC would is a perfect example of "beater muscle". Other than that I hope that The Hammer makes another appearance in the F&F6.

These people need to do their freaking homework, that's a 1970 Monte Carlo, NOT a 1971, the 1971 has rectangular signal lights in the bumper & a little bit wider grille, I should know, I spent 4 years building one with my dad & brother
