Condom Vending Machine in Tokyo, Japan! | Tokyo
Information | History | View | Sightseeing | Video
Today we found a condom vending machine near the Keio Line's Hachimanyama station! I had no idea these things existed. Neither did Ryosuke. It was selling the uber-popular 0.02 mm condoms, 500yen for a box with 6 condoms. In the US (Midwest), I've seen condoms sold in vending machines inside the women's restrooms. I've never bought them, though. Main reason is because it's sold in the same vending machine as the tampons and sanitary napkins, and those feminine hygiene products when I have bought them from the machine look scary old and huge. Like I don't know when it was last restocked.

They are convenient and a lot better than the alternatives.
-
These are pretty common in men's bathrooms. never seen one on the street though.

I'm from the U.S. and I've never heard of condom vending machines. Now that I think about it though, these machines might actually be a great idea. I'm not a guy, but I would imagine that it would be kinda awkward going into a store and having to buy condoms from an actual person. It's like "what happens in the bedroom stays between you, me ......... and that guy at the BP"

昔夜中誰もいないのを確認してこっそり買いに行った覚えが(笑)
20代当時薬局、コンビニで買うのは恥ずかしくてできなかったなぁ~
多分日本だけでしょこの自動販売機があるのは・w・ -
Lol!
-
bottom of the machine "Jinsei ga ...." what is jinsei
-
That's what Japan needs right now, less pregnancy.
-
Condom vending machines are quite common in Europe. I even found a sex toy vending machine in Germany :D

You can find those here in the US. Usually they are in truckstop restrooms, but there are times you can find them in gas station restrooms and bar restrooms. They used to cost 50 cents. I don't know what they cost now. I'm sure that prices have gone up though.

In Spain there are condom machines everywhere, I thought they were common worldwide. You can always find one in the restrooms of pubs, or anywhere in the streets. They're expensive as fuck (1€ = 1 condom) but they're made for those... moments in the night when you can't wait until shops open.
-
i mean at lest they're promoting safe sex
-
You guys need to look for a panties vending machine. Those are distinctively Japanese.
-
In France it's extremely common, all drugstores have a condom vending machine on their street side.
-
for me it's normal to see these. In Spain at least you can find them on the streets, mostly near pharmacies (for shy people :P), and also in public restrooms in malls, bars or discos. I think it should be more common!!
-
Is this not a common thing? We have these in almost every public toilets here in the UK

I'm from Japan. I bet there are a lot of them all over Japan. For me, vending machines I saw in US selling condoms, chocolate bars, etc all together in the same machine, was more interesting.
-
that's interesting! and what a very weird stereotype for american hahaha, his coworker lol?- what other cool vending machines have you seen since living there?? as opposed to american vending machines.
-
We don't need those in America because everyone practices abstinence. lol
