On October 31, 1981, an unsuspecting Wake Forest football team took the field against the eventual National Champion Clemson Tigers. What followed that day was a massacre......Clemson would score 82 points, with the Demon Deacon eventually helping the Tiger mascot do pushups. Highlighted here are all of the Tigers' scoring plays.

@HelimanZ06 My bad Wake Forrest was 3-8 and 1-5 in the ACC in 1981. And were undermanned compared with Clemson and got manhandled as a result.

We're talking 09/19/1981 (the year of this video) when Wake DID beat Auburn AT Auburn. The following two years Wake beat Virginia Tech.

@HelimanZO6 Actually Wake Forrest was 3-8 in 1982 and lost to Aubrun 28-10 and ranked 190 nationally. Clemson manhandled an undermanned team in this game.

Well, that "borderline Div 2 team" beat Auburn that same year and Virginia Tech in each of the following two year. Clemson was for real that year, just ask any Nebraska fan. One more stat of note: The South Carolina Gamecocks had George Rogers and Georgia had Herschel Walker, both Heisman Trophy winners. NEITHER ROGERS OR WALKER EVER SCORED A POINT AGAINST CLEMSON IN THEIR COMBINED 7 GAMES.

I was a Clemson grad student at the time and what I remember was an abused Tiger mascot. The Clemson Tiger mascot did pushups equaling the total number of points they had each time they scored. That worked out to approximately: 6+7+13+14+20+21+27+28+34+35+41+42+48+49+55+56+62+63+69+70+76+82 pushups that day. Eventually the Demon Deacon mascot came over to the Clemson side of the field to do some of the pushups and give the Tiger some relief.

We didnt buy players back then. The whole scandel was because of things they did on campus. And they werent even bad. It was for stuff like allowing the football players to drive eachother to practice. It was a violation of ncaa rules and clemson got in trouble for stupid stuff like that. Sure there might have been bigger things they did than that but most of the violations were small and dumb

@BcL07 No, if we won a title, but we cheated to get it, I really think you would give us a lot of hell for it. If you guys won a title and got it because you guys had great coaching and did a great FAIR job on recruiting, i wouldn't say shit. But i can see what you are saying, Both schools are 2 amazing schools. I was almost a clemson fan my self, Grandfather was there when it was a military school, left after first semester and went to carolina. I could almost be right by your side lol
