CheyTac M200 Intervention | Tokyo

http://www.rockislandauction.com/viewitem/aid/68/lid/3558 The CheyTac M200 Intervention is a massive precision rifle chambered for the .408 CheyTac cartridge (although it can also be had in .375 CheyTac). It uses an action made by EDM Arms, and is capable of sub-MOA accuracy out to 2200-2500 yards (2000-2300 meters). There are other rifles that fulfill those specs as well, but the M200 Intervention gets an exaggerated amount of attention because it has a pretty distinctive look, with its large under-barrel carry handle and collapsing stock (you may recognize it from the 2007 movie "Shooter", based on a Stephen Hunter novel). Today I will take a look at some of the details of this rifle and its ammunition, and address the more common misunderstandings about it and long range shooting in general. http://www.patreon.com/ForgottenWeapons

Watched just to see if he mentioned CoD

My Modern Warfare 2 baby

those skills start with shooting a lot of .22 and take years to develop , may be 1 out of a 1000 will be consistently accurate at that range. It's still fun to try and one hell of a challenge.

I'm not so sure that the bullet will hit it's own shock wave. Rather, the point of pressure changes from behind the bullet to in front of it and that makes it yaw. In addition, the wind not only pushes the bullet laterally, but can impart lift and drop since the bullet is rotating along it's axis. Generally rotating bodies at super sonic speeds in viscous fluids are a PITA to understand and very non-intuitive without a lot of education and practice.

Everyone is making cod quotes

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Battlefield 4 and the TV show Future Weapons really hyped this rifle up. At $12,000 per rifle and insane amount of money for each round, no surprise it only has one military in the world that has it as standard issued, if I remember right.

"there are reasons why this gun is popular" yup a small little video game called Call of duty made it famous
-
So mad that there's not much information about the real steel. Lolo. Could it be that the actual gun is actually shit overall, but just looks awesome.
-
You should have added in the beginning that somewhere along the line, you WILL find Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 information on the CheyTac Intervention
-
The Coriolis effect really plays into it at those ranges...

.338 lapua: 250 grain bullet @ 3000 FPS, 4997 lb ft of muzzle energy, solid, G1 BC 0.648, supersonic range 1738 yds, max range 1738 yds,, 28" barrel
.408 cheytac: 420 grain bullet @ 3000 FPS, 8395 lb ft of muzzle energy, copper nickel alloy, G1 BC 0.949 over 2 miles, supersonic range 2575 yds, balance flight means that bullet doesn't lose accuracy though sound barrier, is accurate to 3500 yds, first round hits and 0.5 moa accuracy at 2500 yds, max range 3500 yds+, 29" barrel
.50 BMG: 661 grain bullet @ 2750 FPS, 11102 lb ft of muzzle energy, lead core fmj M33 Ball ammunition, G1 BC 0.62, supersonic range 1500 yds, no balance flight, max range 1500 yds, 29" barrel
.408 has huge advantage over both rounds . over 625 yds the 408 cheytac has more kinetic energy than 50 bmg, and you may be yeah, well what about penetration, the 498 cheytac ap round penetrates 24mm of hard steel and 50 bmg ap, API and api-t penetrate just 22mm. even with hornady a max bullets, the best 50 bmg bullets, they only have a max range and supersonic range of 2200 yards and don't have balanced flight, so are completely useless after that, while 408 bullet are useful to 3500 yds and beyond -
Literally a pipe with decorations

im an idiot and thought the title of the video was called "intervention" as in "this is an intervention, youtube." and not the name of the damn gun

Anyways, Happy New Year, imma enjoy some more booze, I am drunk as shit but it is SLIGHTLY lacking from being drunk as fuck, and I do hope to get to 'fuck' levels. Cheers! :) Also, Ian, you're bloody awesome. I'm not a huge fan of America or Yanks (Americans) in general, but Ian is one Hell of a chill fellow, seemingly very modest, and quite simply, an unbelievably valuable asset to the firearm community. Particularly to, but certainly not limited to, of course, historical arms. Well I think that's enough potential foot-stuck-in-mouth ranting, imma go and drink some more! Maybe go and drop by Hickok45's channel for a bit, he's thoroughly awesome as well. WOO!
