(Color, Silent) Appears to be a B-29 raid on Tokyo. Bombing of Tokyo From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombing_of_Tokyo The bombing of Tokyo, often referred to as the "firebombing", was conducted by the United States Army Air Forces during the Pacific campaigns of World War II. The U.S. mounted a small-scale raid on Tokyo in April 1942, with large morale effects. Strategic bombing and urban area bombing began in 1944 after the long-range B-29 Super Fortress bomber entered service, first employed from China and thereafter the Mariana Islands. B-29 raids from those islands commenced on November 17, 1944 and lasted until August 15, 1945, the day Japan capitulated. The air raid of 9--10 March 1945 was one of the most destructive bombing raids in history. *Much of the vintage airplane footage only exists because it was taken during wartime. This is not an endorsement of war, but merely preserving the film of aircraft of the time and is a by-product of what they were designed for. TKmagunam What the hell did the Japs expect after Pearl Harbor Nanking the Phillipines and Korea and all others they tortured, raped killed and oppressed and yes the Japs even ate body parts of those they killed...They were monsters of the worse kind and deserved everything they received and then some.. Too bad the USA did not have several more Nukes to fry even more of them slant eyed little devils. they reaped what they had sown.....and the entire military officers should have been tried as war criminals and shot for their role in the war...too bad leniency was shown to so many of them..

If we had the B-29 P-51 combination earlier it would have been a shorter war

F U dirty Caucasians! We will nuke you, enjoy Holocaust on you for revenge soon!

conti linkon That was his "Opinion" and his alone. The B29 did the job it was designed to do. Peoples biased opinions seem to become fact, wrong
-
Its still war crimes even if "they deserved it." Bet that the Japanese used the EXACT SAME justification that you just used for the massacre you mentioned in China.
-
well, maybe you right, but the truth is that they gave to the pilots a plane with major problems, technical fails and really high cost.they pushed the engineers to made a plane in sort time,to flew in high range.and that was the critical mistake.of course after of all those problems the plane has, they fix it and keep it flew fore many years more.i admit only that it was the first of a great bombers generation like B-52.

The B-29 raids revealed the presence of the Jet Stream in a very direct way. Something little was known of at the time. They found bombing accuracy at altitude left a lot to be desired . The Jet stream effected adversely the fall of the bombs, sometime scattering the strike to ineffectiveness. Le May's later tactics, low level night fire raids negated the effects of the Jet

The B-29 was not a shit airplane. It was a very new airplane with technological advances. Like every new machine, there were bugs, some , unfortunately fatal. The R3350 was a heavy, high powered monsters that flew for years in the Super Connie and the Skyraider to name two. In 1944, it was a new engine inside a very close cowling. .Not much room for cooling.

max heisting at his book "Nemesis"said that b-29 was really shit aeroplanes with technical problems.more b-29 where shot down by their own problems than japanese ant-iaircraft weapons and zero's.really shit plane and cost more than 500 thousands $.

After the Doolittle raid, the Japanese retaliated against the Chinese for helping the US flyers by massacring over 250,000 of them. Do I feel like war crimes were committed against the Japanese by the likes of LeMay? Nope. The Japanese got what they brought onto themselves. And to anyone who wants to sling ad hominems at me for thinking that, I say fuck you. Go USAAF. Bomb those fuckers in Tokyo.

We'll tell the survivors of the Nankin massacres, the Filipinos murdered, the Bataan Death March and so many others
-
Didn't Japan attack the U.S. first? The Japs treated POW's worse than any country in history. Did they not think the U.S. would retaliate? Didn't the Japs fight to the death, no surrender, was dishonorable to do so? It would have cost hundreds of thousands of U.S. lives we had to invade their homeland. The Bataan death march? Millions of forced slave labor throughout the far east?
