Applying to a Japanese university: What you'll need and what to expect! | Tokyo

**Please do not ask which university I am attending!! For safety reasons, I don't want to reveal this!** Sorry it's so long but I wanted to be thorough and there's a lot to cover! And I apologize for all the nose scratching that was in between...my nose was soooo itchy! I don't know why! Too long; didn't watch? Basically you'll need: 1. Transcripts (from high school and college if you go/went) 2. Recent photo of yourself. 3. Recommendations from teachers. (I suggest 3 - 5) 4. Personal Statement Essay. 5. Financial Plan (how will you support yourself?) 6. School info from your high school (signature from principle) 7. Money for application. (Mine was 200 USD roughly.) Watch the video for more information, but feel free to ask questions if something wasn't clear! (: Hope this helps you! Remember, application processes can vary between universities and if it's completely different from how the process went for me, don't panic! Email the admission office and ASK QUESTIONS! They're there to help you!! I asked plenty and they were extremely nice and helpful! Keep in mind that it will be much more difficult for you to apply if it's taught in Japanese and your Japanese isn't the best. But there are a handful of programs that you can apply for that are taught in English!

I am trying to apply to universities in Japan but I have not been to college yet. I am a senior in high school and I will be graduating very soon. So far, everything I've found has been about exchange students. How did you know exactly where to go? Is it the same application that Japanese students complete? I'm so stuck..

can i know which university you applied and your major :D

Did you have to know Japanese to apply and get accepted? I'm in the same situation that you were. I'm getting my A.A. and I want to go to a Japanese University after I finish. My college doesn't have a Japanese course so I'm kinda on my own with studying Japanese

Did you have to take the EJU?
-
Is the recommendation usually required? I homeschooled and haven't yet done post secondary, so not much options for recommendations.

Hi, thank you so much for making this video! This is really helpful.
I'm going to graduate from my high school next year.I'm planning to apply to about 3 universities in Japan. All English-based programs. I've been really worried if I don't get accepted because in my country people usually go to college after graduating from high school.Any way, I want to ask you some questions.
1.I want to go to University of Tsukuba the most.I'll apply to their g30 undergraduate program.I don't know am I good or not, so I hope you can see my situation.I got 3.65/4 gpa(not out of 4.3). How do you think about it? Also, I'm not a native speaker in English. I will probably get 900 in TOEIC or 80 to 90 in TOEFL. Is this going to be a bad influence?
2.My high school is the top high school in my country(only top 1% students in a national standardized test can get in. Do you think it can help me pass the first stage screening more likely?
3.I know that study plan(or essay) is a really important factor for professors to know a student and decide whether they accept you. But I've been wondering that if the study plan is so crucial, applicants can work hard on it, maybe polish it as possible as one can. But why is there only about half of the applicants can pass the first stage screening? Is it about your transcript or recommendations?
4.What to you think I can do to let the professors know that I really want to go to their university? I'm afraid I can't be outstanding in all applicants because excellent students from around the world will be applying to the programs as well.
5.What questions can I ask when they ask me what questions I want to ask? Also, how do I respond on Skype when they ask me if I apply to other universities?
Sorry for asking you so much questions at a time. Please don't feel stressed for answering me. -
if someone got rejected does that person have to wait almost 1 whole year so he can apply again ?
